Started my contract/tab with the company since Sept. 26 2010 and never had a problem with it (yet). I feel sorry looking at these posts of people having trouble with the company but I am sure Koodo isn't the worst carrier in Toronto. The company with the dogs delivers the worst customer service. I signed a two year contract with them, and they told me that I needed to phone them a month before the two year contract ends if I wanted to terminate the contract. It didn't make sense to me to be honest. If I needed to phone them a month before my contract ends, why would I sign an agreement saying I am only using the service for two years.

I have just one question since everyone is bashing Koodo. Name a great wireless service provider in Canada please. Every wireless service provider has a forum where people are always ranting about their service, so if I was to take the opinion of people it would mean I really shouldn't bother getting a cell phone since there isn't a single wireless provider worth the trouble. Everyone likes to complain and rant about the problem but no one talks about the solution. So, if Koodo sucks than who is better?? I was a Rogers customer and their customer service is consists of as much bs as the next wsp. Bell is another one who's wireless and customer service is garbage. So is FIDO and Telus. So, we are left with MobiliCity, Wind, Virgin etc. who all have their own rant forum. So, we have no WSP that's good, hardly convincing.

Before I switched to Koodo, I called them to make sure that we could move from southern Alberta to Winnipeg without problems, and was told "no problems". Two months later, I found out that most of their phones do not work outside Winnipeg city limits all the way to Saskatchewan. When I called them, they said to send them an email which would be responded to by a manager. I did so, and got a useless reply telling me to call customer service.A complete runaround. Since my wife has health problems, this makes the phone not only useless outside Winnipeg, but potentially dangerous. I have filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs, but have had no reply for the past week.
Stay away from Koodo!!

Well, it took more than two weeks, but I finally heard from a supervisor at Koodo. She was professional and apologetic and professional. She cancelled the contract and gave us a month's free service. She directed me to go to a Koodo kiosk in Calgary and pick out a CDMA phone and they would honor the original contract if I so chose. So, it took time but it looks like Koodo tries to sort out things.

every service provider asks for 1 months notice before cancellation, it doesnt mean that your service will be cancelled that day, it means that your service will be cancelled in 30 days... don't worry, they would never let you out of your contract early without a penalty Wink

I've been with Koodo for about 3 and a half years now. Never had problems until this past year. Got a new phone last December. All was fine for awhile. Until this past summer, when I was suddently getting random data usage charges. I fought them, since I do.not.use.my.phone.for.data. Charge reversed once. And then showed up again a month or two later. Representatives tried telling me that I *must* be doing something to incur these charges. Funnily enough, I received a picture text (included in my plan) at the EXACT same time I received the data charge, and the file sizes were pretty much identical. They worked out a little "deal" with me after that happened (so little, it's laughable, but since I haven't had a mistaken data charge since I guess it's not bad).

Now for the past few months I've been having problems sending multi page texts to Bell customers. Complained to Koodo. Koodo tells me it must be on Bell's end. Talk to Bell, they were essentially unhelpful (told me to call a number on a landline, even after I informed them of my lack of landline to do so). Went back to Koodo, and now I'm waiting to see if they can work with Bell to sort it out.

It makes me sad, I love the Canada-wide calling plan, but multi page texts are pretty important to me too. I've informed Koodo if they don't get it sorted out by the New Year, I'm looking elsewhere. And I'm not paying off my Tab (and I shouldn't have to, they've been unable to provide me with satisfactory service that I've paid for).

http://www.ccts-cprst.ca/ The Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunication Services is where you should file your complaint if you have not been able to resolve it with Koodo.

Once your complaint has been filed...I'm sure you will be amazed at the service you get. The executive officer from Koodo's corporate offices that contacts will also be able to give you free service or money if you push it to settle the matter.

Good Luck!

Bell has the same policy...they will charge you for 30 days of full service if you do not give notice.
I've never been a Fido customer but would wager ROGERS is by far the worst. Koodo may be, but I don't plan on being with them long enough to find out. Rogers will lie straight out and rest assured, their call records will show whatever they want.
Several years ago I bought a small digital recorder that you put in-line on your land-line to record calls...they do..you have that same right. There is no expectation of privacy...so you may "assure quality" Smile

To the people with complaints about Koodo or most of the other telcom providers in Canada that you cannot resolve, confirm your provider like Koodo is a member (they are) then lodge a complaint with the CCTS – Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunication Services http://www.ccts-cprst.ca/
You'll be amazed how nicely they treat you after your complaint is filed.

I cancelled our Koodo accounts last month, what a hassle!!
First their web site says everything can be done there, spent a long time trying to find how to cancel, and you can't do it there. Then I called, and the rep took me through a zillion questions about why and so on. I was ok with that. After finishing, she told me that she had to transfer me to the terminations department - there was no reason for this, I had given her all the info she needed - she confirmed my id with a number of questions, she asked why we were cancelling, she tried to get me to change my mind (the kids had already moved to another provider, so there was no turning back). Then this other guy comes on after putting me on hold, and takes me through all the SAME questions. I refused to answer them all again.
Then they told me that it would take 10 days to process the termination, and I would have to pay for that time. Today I got what seems to be the last bill - it is for DOUBLE what it should be, and it contains no details on the billing period, etc.
I have sent them an email advising that I will be perfectly happy to pay all monies owing up to the (my) termination date, but nothing more, and they need to provide billing details before I will pay. I don't expect to hear from them (they didn't answer a previous email)... I suspect they will try to hurt my credit rating, but since it is perfect, they will have no impact.
I was prepared to leave Koodo on good terms, but THEY have made that impossible. If you are not with Koodo as yet, don't go there.

Koodo sucks said:

IF YOU LIKE TEXTING DONT GET A PHONE WITH KOODO, U NEVER END UP GETTING ALL OF YOUR TEXTS AND IT GETS REALLY ANNOYING

More often than not it's user error that is at fault. People never turn off their devices, which delays and sometimes it blocks over the air updates entirely, need to manage your text inbox better as well and realize that you would have similar issues anywhere else. It is a wireless network after all, which is still in its infancy. Maybe all carrier suck, but if your read the January edition of Consumer Reports, Koodo came in first as having the best service. Just saying.Smile

Very excited to be having 2 months of service, worry free, hassel free and problem free. ROGERS was much worse. Had to watch my bills, had to call customer service 12-3X to get one thing straight. With Koodo between the website and the intelligent customer service reps its been easy.

Think Koodo is great. No complaints.

Just wanted to add that I've only ever had that problem ONCE and they deductd 10 dollars from my bill as a sorry.
Never had the problem since!

I LOVE KOODO!!!!!!
Perfect for anyone who doesn't feel like getting ripped off! :)

In this country of close to zero options, no one cellular company is any better or any worse than the next - they all treat you like they own you and you can't do a damn thing about it. Koodo's bullshit about no contract pisses me off though! No contract? Semantics if you ask me because that 'tab' is a contract with a different name. I have had my shitteous service with them for 2 years now and have only now just about cut that tab in half; which means that I probably have another 2 years to go until it is paid off and I can do away with the phone for good. If I cancel now, I have to pay the remainder of that tab, so how is that a contract exactly? It isn't that cellular companies suck, they do, but it is this country that allows customers to get used that sucks.

I've been with Koodo for the past year and I have no complaints. I did have an issue with my initial phone, called customer service and it was resolved with a credit to my account. Compared to Rogers, in my opinion they're miles ahead!!! I live on the border and with Rogers had 100's charges for roaming fees. It hasn't happened with Koodo. As far as a contract, you're paying for the cost of your PHONE......is there any company that provides a free smart phone with no contract obligations? Please let me know if there is. The phone can be switched over to another company with modifications.......I'm not a techi but my son is and has done so as his company was paying for his phone through a different carrier. I now have the LG Optimus and love it.......hubby has an iPhone and I can't see any advantage of his over mine!
To each his own I guess....just wanted to pass on my experience wit the company.

Kodoo is really a scam. They are not serious, we stopped our service with them. Their rep sold us a phone for double it's price and we ended up paying double because they couldn't clearly explain. The second thing, they never sent us our bills and they charged us for interest (we never received any bill until the 3 month, after we called them 4 times). They didn't keep any record of anything, although we asked them to write down on our file our comments and that we were waiting for our bills. Nothing. Their customer representatives suck really, they are a bunch of ignorant who spend their lives in a call centre and they feel superior. It is probably the most company I ever used for cell phones! Don't use it!

I like koodo, it's just that i have a cdma blackberry, in an hspa area. The area is "fringe". Today i got a rockethub, and oh my god! what a difference! No dropped calls! really fast internet! and i can phone and surf simultaneously! So i have to cancel my koodo mobile account. Will miss them, they served their purpose, but have been outdone by much better technology. Bye Koodo..
