Hi
I am a new MJ user and everything seems fine except I have experienced a lot of dropped calls. The call starts fine but after 5 minutes the line goes dead; MJ still thinks the call is connected. Any ideas?
thanks

Sounds like your computer may be getting internet interruptions while you are using the magic jack. Does your internet connect through your phone line ?
Just a guess.

I have cable internet from shaw. I think the problom may be something to do with my laptop..the call that drops are always just slightly more than 5 minutes. Maybe windows is shutting something down to save power..but it happens when the laptop is plugged in.
thanks

Have you checked the USB Root Hub Properties for the Power Management Option? "Allow the computer to turn off this deivce to save power." is ENABLED by default.
Right Click "My Computer" > Manage > Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers > Right Click the USB Root Hub > Properties > Power Management > Uncheck the box > OK.

I have turned off the usb power management, but the calls still cut off after 5 minutes ( about 40 % of the time). I have also tried using a powered hub and still the same problem. I have now switched to my desktop and MJ works great. But the whole idea was to use it with the laptop when I travel.
thanks
