Now that they have Canadian numbers I have two questions.
1) Will the magicjack recognize a fax machine.
2) Say I choose a 519 area code. Who is local and who is long distance. Is my neighbour long distance? How will this work.
I am almost sold.

From what I know, the official magicJack distributor does not offer Canadian numbers yet.
If they were, in terms of local / long distance, the 519 number would act the same as if you had gotten a number from any other phone company.
magicJack does not officially claim to support fax machines, although if you do a search, people with good connections have had success sending and receiving faxes with it.

Do not buy a Magicjack from the Canadian site.
I hope MagicJack ditches this distributor for a CANADIAN PARTNER who will provide proper customer care.
The Canadian site offer a "Canadian area code", but this area code is NOT supported by MagicJack USA. The Canadian partner has a server that forwards call from a US number to the "Canadian number" BUT THEIR SERVER IS DOWN ALL THE TIME. DOES NOT WORK.
Good luck calling the number. It has a recording say "SUCKER !!!!! call back in 48 hrs to be called a SUCKER again"
Instead go to the MagicJack.com website.
- click on "customer care/live agent"
- click "get live help in seconds"
- click "to reach a live person" (bottom of page)
- click on any of the "most requested items" (bottom of page)
- NOW click on "START CHAT" top of page
REQUEST A CANADIAN NUMBER. LET THEM KNOW THERE IS DEMAND. LET THEM KNOW THE CANADIAN RESELLER SUCKS

I want my money back, I would like to know where can a make a complaint.
I beleive it is a SCAM.

If you paid with a credit card, you can initiate a chargeback. Unfortunately, with unresponsive, flaky businesses there isn't much else you can do.

Yup. In Canada and the US, outgoing calls incur the same charge (or lack of charge) to the caller, no matter whether the destination number is a cell phone or a land line.
