Hey. I was just in the states with a koodo phone but had to get a new phone because my previous phone was CDMA which basically means you can only text in Canada. however there are a few phones on koodo (such as the INQ) that allow you to text and send pictures that are HSPA. I am not sure about mexico but i was in new mexico and had no extra fees, i wouldn't suggest calling though, it's ends up being $2-$4 a minute plus a $40 roaming charge. i wouldn't check voicemail either. Other than actually acquiring service. Apparently there aren't many towers down there. It was great to have, The other people i was with ended up with $300-$2400 phone bills and they are with rogers and telus. On koodo you can also set up a limit. so if you're bill reaches say $200 it basically shuts down until you pay it. and won't let you go over.
