It should work nicely with Akismet.

Try changing the priority of the add_action hook in Akismet so that it runs after the CAPTCHA:

add_action('preprocess_comment', 'akismet_auto_check_comment', 11);

works fine but akismet no longer shows the spam message even the spam counter increased.

Just wanted to say that I installed the latest version (3.0.4) on my 2.3.3 blog and it seems to be working absolutely fine - integrates with other comment plugins (video, audo, smileys) 'right out of the box'.

Before I used to 'moderate first comment', and the one essentail comment got lost in a sea of spam - but now I've opened the blog up - logged in users obviously don't need to enter the Custom (yeah, nice touch !) words.

With this release are some management tweaks. First of all, you can customize the anti-spam words in the WordPress admin panel (under Manage > Custom anti-spam).

Second of all, translation text is now found in the "translate/cas_translations.php" file, instead of being embedded in custom_anti_spam.php.
