Bridgeport Canada Line SkyTrain Park & Ride location: at the River Rock Casino

First published on December 26, 2009

The Bridgeport Canada Line SkyTrain Park & Ride in Richmond is actually the River Rock Casino’s multi-level parking garage.

This may be obvious to many people, but for me, who’s used to the outdoor lots at the Scott Road and King George stations, it was a bit confusing the first time. The lack of clear signage and the politically-sensitive naming of the station (“Bridgeport” instead of “River Rock Casino”) added to the confusion for me.

Technically, the casino’s address is 8811 River Road and the Park & Ride’s address is 8888 River Road. The casino’s parking garage is directly connected to the SkyTrain station. If you’re a visitor to Vancouver or simply heading to the station for the first time, just think Bridgeport Canada Line SkyTrain Station = River Rock Casino.

HI, I BORROWED A FRIEND’S CAR AND DROVE TO THE WINTER OLYMPICS LAST THURSDAY(FEB18TH) FOR THE DAY. I FOLLOWED THE WEB SITE AND GPS DIRECTIONS TO 8888 RIVER ROAD AND SAW THE SIGNAGE FOR THE THE PARK AND RIDE LOT AND CASINO. THE GATE WAS OPEN AND WE COULD FIND NO METER TO PAY THE EXPECTED $2 PER THE CANADA LINE WEBSITE. WE DID SEE SOME SIGNS POINTING TO THE FAR(NORTH/EAST?) END ON SOME FLOORS BUT NOTHING ON THE SOUTH/WEST? END. I DROVE TO AN UNMARKED STALL ON THE WEST/SOUTH END AND PARKED ON THE 6TH FLOOR, WENT LOOKING FOR SOME SORT OF TICKET METER, AND FINDING NONE, WALKED DOWN TO CATCH THE CANADA LINE WITH MY OLYMPIC HOCKEY TICKET IN HAND.
HAD A GREAT TIME IN VANCOUVER AND PROBABLY SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY. CAUGHT THE CANADA LINE BACK TO BRIDGEPORT STATION TO DRIVE HOME THAT EVENING—ONLY TO FIND A PARKING TICKET FOR $48 FROM IMPERIAL PARKING CANADA CORP! THE TICKET SAID "PARKING RECEIPT EXPIRED" FOR STALL #1081. WHAT’S GOING ON HERE? $48 IS A BIG JUMP FOR A $2 EXPECTED CHARGE WITH NO GATE, METERS, SPECIFIC SIGNING, OR STALL # THAST I COULD SEE. PLEASE HELP. THANKS.

Thanks for the heads up on this… I scoured translinks website for information and was totally lost on this.

Although I still don’t know where I’m going , at least I know where I am!

My one and only time parking at River Rock Casio, we drove around and around trying to find a spot. Finally we found one, paid the $2 and caught the train, only to come back to our car with a parking ticket on it! The ticket claims to have been written 5 minutes after we bought the ticket and said our ticket was expired!! What kind of f’in morons to they have writing parking tickets. You can’t do the math on the date?

Let me break it down for you idiots, if the date on the parking stub matches tomorrow’s date, then don’t write a flippin’ ticket. The parking hasn’t expired, ultimate morons.

I’m not sure how you could have gotten confused. The 10 feet tall letters RIVER ROCK CASINO AND RESORT are visible from the train when approaching the station, so one would expect you to be able to figure out the station leads to River Rock. The convention has always been name stations after roads. It would be pretty weird to name the station after a nearby business. It has nothing to do with political sensitivity.

Imperial Parking = fraudsters. I once parked at a lot that they monitored and got a ticket for parking longer than the max 3 hours. Luckily I had bought something right when I arrived and right when I left so I had some receipts to check for times. Turns out I was only there for max 2 hrs & 45 mins. If I didn’t have the receipts I would’ve paid the darn thing because I didn’t actually have a clue how long I had parked for. Then the ultimate revelation: imperial/impark etc operate with an ILLEGAL tactic to randomly issue tickets to cars who are CLOSE to expiry in hopes that the car owners will trust the authority and pay those stupid things. They are NOT THE POLICE so don’t be scared. I called them up and scowled about my situation and they canceled the ticket immediately when I told them I had receipts and witnesses to prove my length of stay. When I pursued the issue further saying that what they were was ILLEGAL and FRADULENT, the girl started to stutter and lose confidence, indicating to me that she knew something shady was going on.

    hey,
does anyone know if you can park an rv at this park and ride lot at the river rock casino?
or does someone knows a better suggestion for rv parking at vancouver international airport for like 3 hours?
    thanks

  8. Lori says:

Dear Veronique: The Long Term Lot at the Airport takes oversized vehicles and the rate is pretty decent. If you need to take the skytrain to downtown – you take the Long Term Lot Shuttle bus up to the terminal and hop onto the skytrain. BUT remember to buy your skytrain tickets before you get there – or there is a $5.00 adfare that is imposed by Translink. Hope that helps

how much is the parking rate in bridgeport park and ride? I also want to know if i could also park in the open area parking space beside the multi level parking? I think it’s free of charge to park on the open area.

  10. Denise says:

I cannot tell you how helpful this info was. I searched for an hour on the web to find out where the heck the Bridgeport Park and Ride was? Being unfamiliar with River Rock I don’t think I would have found the park and ride driving around on my own.
Thank you Peter, for posting the truly most useful crap I have ever read :-)
f only others’ info were as good as your crap. I will be sure to come back and see what other crap I can find in the future.
    Cheers,
    Denise

  11. Nissa says:

The park and ride is from P2-P7. So if you parked anywhere else besides those levels then I believe you would’ve been ticketed. That’s my assumption.

  12. Bill says:

Can I park more than 24hours at the lot and pay more?

Reply from Peter: I’m not the expert on this, but I don’t think you can. You can try one of the airport’s long-term parking lots.

  13. Translink blows says:

The park and ride here basically doesnt exist. It’s paid parking, and the lot closes for transit riders before it closes for the business, though how, and when is completely unexplained.

    DONT PARK HERE.

Its sketchy, unsafe, and your likely to get a ticket whether you follow the rules or not. Bridgeport, the keystone station for anyone who doesnt live in the squalid toilet of Vancouver, effectively does not have a park and ride.

    Park at your own risk.
