Download Version 1.2

New features in this release include:

  • Added multiple season support
  • Added "master team" feature where teams across multiple seasons can be linked to track team history
  • Breadcrumbs added to improve admin interface navigation
  • Increased the "runs for" (or goals for, points for, etc.) and "runs against" field for scores to accept 3 digits.

For a detailed run-through of the added features, see this thread.

Thanks (again!) to Jason for helping me to test and tweak this release.

The breadcrumb feature is a great addition. Were there any other changes/fixes from the 1.2 beta? Thanks.

Hehe, that was mostly your idea, so I have you to thank for that :D

There were no other changes from the beta -- maybe a few minor code tweaks that I saw by chance, but nothing that affected functionality or that fixed any bugs.

I just finished customizing my copy of v1.2 and had some comments:

1. Increase the score field sizes from 2 to 3. This would be helpful for basketball games where it's common to have 3-digit scores.
2. Reverse the display for the home and away teams on the past/upcoming games and when entering/editing a score. It's more common to list the away team before the home team.

So far, so good with v1.2. I'll be converting my live site over to the new version tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've updated the existing 1.2 release to include your suggestion on increasing the field sizes.

I'll add the other suggestion on the home / away reverse to the list of features for the next major version. This is strictly a user interface change (in other words, doesn't affect the database), so in the meantime people who are using the script might be able to figure out how to tweak this in admin_files/editscore.php and admin_files/addscore.php.

Nice.

Now that you've added user roles and multiple season support, what's the next big feature for the next version?

BTW, my conversion from v1.1 to v1.2 went smoothly and my members like the new features.

Hmm, what's next? A break :D

Actually I'm not sure what the next version will have. Since I'll probably leave the "player" level and a "tournament brackets" feature to custom implementations, things that come to mind include:

  • Integration with another system such as WordPress
  • CSV schedule importing (this was already done for a customer but was quite... custom)
  • Massive code cleanup
  • Schedule generation
  • Extensibility and modification improvements (like if people want to add custom stats fields, such as double forfeits)

What should be added to that list?

Those are all nice additions. I'd like to see the layout updated to like something like the Reading Mens Softball League you have a link to on your site.

That should be done on a person level, as what would fit your website. I did it for mine.

Unfortunately, I have to keep my kids safety foremost, so I cannot provide the url.

This screenshot is of the main panel of the standings display integrated into my CMS, keeping theme universal from every page within my site.

That's very nice looking too.

Thanks!

It just took some time to add my theme style sheet coding that was used thought my site. Some trial and error, but in the long run, quite appealing.

What CMS are you using for your site? As I browse Peter's Crap, I see he likes WordPress.

I "borrowed" your "Submit a Game Report" idea on my site as I liked the 1-step access to enter scores.

My site is currently a forum only, but I do play around with with Wordpress a little bit.
